New Engine Options

New multiple engine options offer powerful performance choices in the Briggs and Stratton, Kawasaki and Kubota models. The new 4500 will provide a propane ‘green’ engine option with the Kubota WG972-GL. When adding the optional propane kit, this Bi-Fuel Ready tractor offers gas and/or propane fuel operation for fuel savings and cleaner burning emissions and can reduce your carbon footprint up to 90%.*

Ease of Use and Comfort

Ergonomically friendly controls include an easy to reach automotive style parking brake, and a conveniently located PTO belt tensioner. The relocated weight transfer lever allows operators to easily adjust for increased stability on slopes and for increased lift capacity.

The sealed electrical system protects fuses, relays and terminals from corrosion and outdoor elements. A new automotive style wire harness allows a quick ‘plug and play’ feature for ease of connecting optional tractor accessories.

The optional digital slope indicator with warning light integrates into the dash, providing easy visibility, and allows operators to continuously monitor the degree of slope operation.

The extra large premium comfort seat with adjustable slide rails will provide many hours of riding comfort for operators.

Added Features

The tractor features an enclosed muffler for greater visibility and minimized exhaust exposure. Operators of the new 4500 are kept informed of operational temperatures, oil pressure or low voltage levels with the enhanced instrumentation of the new 6-function warning gauge.

New technology can be seen in the electronic instrument panel on the newly redesigned dash. With tachometer, speedometer, fuel gauge, hour meter and temperature gauge, operators stay well informed.

A battery disconnect switch feature fully disables the electrical system and includes a fail safe disconnect.

The Weight Transfer System can be used in several different ways, depending on the front attachment being used.  Its most important benefit is found when mowing steep slopes.  In fact, use of the Weight Transfer System is KEY to the outstanding ability of Ventrac to operate safely on slopes.  On slopes, it provides the tractor with increased traction, increased braking, and increased resistance to slipping sideways.  It can also be used to minimize the down force on scraping edges such as blades and snow blowers to reduce the tendency to scratch paved surfaces or gouge gravel driveways.  In a similar fashion, it can be used to minimize the wheel contact forces on a Blower to minimize potential turf damage.  Finally, it can be used to increase the lift capacity of the hitch when using the Slip Scoop or Excavator.

The Rendered Version of the MJ840 Contour Deck

Last week, two employees from Ventrac, Dan Swartz and Roscoe  Lehman traveled to Huntsville, Alabama for the Siemens Solid Edge ST4 Global Launch Event.  The Ventrac Engineering Department currently uses the Solid Edge ST3 CAD system to design equipment, such as the MJ840 Contour Mowing Deck.    Solid Edge hosted the event to introduce new users, as well as current users, to the newest ST4 version of the software.  Packed with tips and ideas, technical training and opportunities to interact with Solid Edge users from around the world, the event helped Dan and Roscoe get a better idea of what the ST4 version can do for Ventrac. 

Dan was sought out by some of the Solid Edge development team who wanted to learn more about how Ventrac uses Solid Edge’s Synchronous Technology software.    Dan Staples from Solid Edge  spoke about meeting up with Swartz and Lehman during the two day event on the Seimens blog.    Staples loved the image Ventrac created using the ST3 software and wanted to work with Ventrac to create an image for the new ST4 splash screen.    The Solid Edge Blog shows one example of a rendered image of a tractor and contour deck along with more from Staples’ interview.

Dan and Roscoe entered the MJ840 contour deck in the Solid Edge Product Showcase and it became one of the featured products during the event.   Dan was interviewed over the course of the two days about how Ventrac uses Solid Edge software in the development of products.    Swartz talks more about how the contour mowing deck moves and maneuvers across uneven terrain, making it an ideal deck for mowing around bunkers on golf courses.   See the interview below and how Dan explains the value of using ST3 rendered images to view equipment.     

It was windy, but  Dan was unfazed by the sign mishap!

BJ’s Lawn Service in Ayr, Ontario is equipped with a 3200 Series Ventrac with a side discharge mower deck, a cab, v-blade and snow blower.    BJ’s received a contract for clearing snow from sidewalks for the city of Ayr.   What he needed was a durable machine that was small enough to fit on sidewalks.      “Something that was 4 wheel drive and could fit on all the sidewalks-old and new without ripping up any grass or gardens. We also had to take into consideration the two sidewalk bridges that in the past were hand shoveled or just left unploughed.”     He came across the Ventrac after an exhaustive search of equipment that was either over-priced or didn’t fit the work needed done.   “With a Weather cab, V-blade and snow blower we were ready to go plow!,” says BJ.    “Then came grass season! We were incredibly impressed with this machine. We have always run zero turns, walkers and even a walk behind mower, but nothing could out-mow our Ventrac. It does all of our hills with no problems and cuts time in half!”

Ron Stanley of Stanley Yardcare, uses his Ventrac 4227 tractor with multiple attachments to take him from season to season with much success.   His 48″ Slip Scoop, KX523 Snow blower and HM602 62-inch mower allows him to operate his business with more efficiency than ever.       ” My son and I operate a small yard care business.  We use the Ventrac to mow lawn, move soil, mulch and aggregates, and will be using it to remove snow this winter.  We currently maintain approximately 40 residential properties mowing lawn and doing snow removal, plus mowing at the two University of Waterloo Colleges.  The factors that made us decide to purchase a Ventrac were hillside mowing capabilities and the use of different attachments.”

Ventrac KC180 Stump Grinder

attachment.   Designed for the 4000 Series tractors, the KC180 is now built with new high performance cutting teeth and a newly designed rotor.

The new cutting teeth, from Green Manufacturing, have three sides that allow the user to create changeable cutting edges so there is always a sharp cutting edge available when needed.   With three cutting edges on a single tooth, there is a longer service life, resulting in more efficiency and production.  The teeth tips are made with 100% virgin carbide, not reclaimed carbide, for greater strength.   The new teeth also feature a deeper dish design that offers a tremendous shearing action and a smoother cut for better performance.

The new revisions for the rotor now feature ½” solid steel plate construction with gussets.  This new enhancement makes a more robust component to the KC180.
